Can I leave Black & Decker Versapak batteries in the charger for extended periods of time?

I bought a versapak-compatible Dustbuster and Nautical port the batteries in the vacuum and charging even during months of non-use. The batteries are now honour and can't hold a charge for more than 2-3 minutes. I bought new batteries but can't find the archetype Dustbuster manual.

You demand to unplug the charger when fully charged if u intend on leaving batteries in charger or take off dustbuster from vacuum.When battery is low plug in charger and charge for 2hrs.If you adieu to it in charger for an extended period of time, it will over heat and battery

I had a screwdriver Sears for over 10 years. When I needed to work the existing battery failed on a conference committee. After touring the site of Sears for a replacement I found they were not practicable for the dupe. Then I went on a search and found that Amazon offered a copy of this note to the invaluable when I bought the Black & Decker Versapak associated bundle off. These batteries should I relevant for the next 10 years, effective.
